MASTERING
Mastering is the last step of audio processing before it goes to the disc manufacture,
or broadcast media.
While mastering the audio signal gets the finishing touch to match the target medium specifications and to sound as good as possible within these specifications. The audio signal gets polished to compete with commercial releases and to sound good on any consumer devices such as television, radio,HiFi sound systems, MP3 players an so on.
The mixdown gets analysed for frequency balance, resonances, dynamic ranges, stereo image and more to find and fix problems, or to balance or improve the overall sound with respect to the customers flavour, the genre and album tracks in context.
I can look back to 10 years of mastering expirience with both analog equipment and digital mastering suites. Depending on the sound source and the customer‘s expectations i choose the best tool for a particular job to achieve the desired sound aesthetic.
If the customer want to stay all analog, no problem, The master will be done all analog. Also all digital is possible to keep the amount of analog-dicital-analog conversions to a minimum.
